The "Meatrix"

This is one of the best consumer advocacy/special interest campaigns I've seen in a while. Not sure how I feel about the issue, but I'm more inclined to keep up with it, because of an ad like this.

Let me know what you think.

RELLLL-ELLLLL! I want the blue pill, the blue pill!!

I confess: I turned it off when they got to the "systematic mutilation" part. I saw a special on chicken plants when I was like 12; stopped eating chicken for a year.

Aside from the issue discussed, what a GREAT ad! Moopheus?! And it's true, we do all choose to live in a 'blue pill' world when it comes to that sort of thing; I know I do.

Nah man...you gotta know the truth about your food. People these days are so disconnected from their food. My grandma came to Canada from Tobago and was horrified by our grocery stores. She wanted to know where the chicken came from and "who does mind dem chicken?" Who knew she was right to be concerned?

Just for the record, I'll admit that I'm one of the few people who doesn't get the Matrix - and practically anything else remotely sci-fi related - and ends up tuning out within the first 11 minutes of trying to watch the film for the umpteenth time. So I'll take your word for it that this is a great ad.

I'll admit food has been hurting my stomach lately and it all has this farm after-taste. I'm still eating it though.

I don't think the point of the film is to get people to stop eating meat or dairy. It's just that whenever we do eat meat or dairy to choose a) local and b) pastured or organic products. This is how you can be sure that the animals were in good health, no antibiotics or horomones are added, and that the animals lived a semi-normal existence.
